Introduction

In an era where precision, sustainability, and innovation define the future of industrial operations, ELTEK SA once again reaffirmed its dedication to leadership in the field of explosives engineering. On May 23rd and 24th, 2025, we proudly represented Greece and our professional community at the EFEE Council Meeting in Tallinn, Estonia.

Hosted by the European Federation of Explosives Engineers (EFEE), this prestigious event brought together corporate members, experts, and decision-makers from across Europe to shape the direction of our industry through dialogue, collaboration, and strategic alignment.

About EFEE and the Council Meeting

The EFEE is a globally recognized organization that unites engineers and companies specializing in explosives and blasting technology. Its mission is to promote the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

The Council Meeting in Tallinn, held at the centrally located Nordic Hotel Forum, was part of EFEE’s biannual governance activities. It included:

  • Committee meetings on Friday, May 23rd

  • Board and Council meetings on Saturday, May 24th

  • The Annual General Meeting (AGM), where key decisions were made regarding EFEE’s operations, budget, and leadership

ELTEK SA’s Role and Participation

Our participation was both symbolic and practical. As a committed EFEE corporate member, ELTEK SA took part in:

  • Committee discussions on environmental compliance, EU directives, and safety procedures

  • Board-level sessions reviewing the federation’s performance and strategy

  • The AGM, which included voting on amendments to the EFEE Constitution, Board elections, and financial reviews

This hands-on involvement enables us to directly contribute to shaping industry standards, policies, and educational initiatives.

Key Topics Discussed

During the various sessions, several important themes emerged:

1. Innovation in Blasting Technology

Delegates discussed the role of digitalization and AI in blast design, site monitoring, and risk mitigation. ELTEK is already exploring such technologies to improve precision and reduce environmental impact.

2. Environmental & Safety Regulations

With EU legislation becoming more stringent, discussions around harmonized safety protocols and environmental reporting standards were a central part of the agenda.

3. Education and Workforce Development

EFEE continues to focus on the professional development of engineers through training programs and certifications. We support these initiatives and advocate for expanding them across Southeast Europe.

4. Industry Collaboration

There was an emphasis on stronger communication between corporate members, universities, and public institutions. ELTEK highlighted the importance of sharing knowledge between countries with diverse operational landscapes.

Why It Matters for ELTEK and Our Clients

Being part of EFEE’s strategic discussions is not just about prestige—it’s about bringing value back to our projects and clients.

Here’s how this participation benefits our stakeholders:

  • Up-to-date Practices: We incorporate the latest methodologies and regulatory insights into our services.

  • Safety First: Enhanced compliance and proactive risk assessment strategies improve safety on-site.

  • Sustainable Operations: By embracing greener blasting methods and materials, we reduce our environmental footprint.

  • European Network: We foster partnerships that help us access best practices, tools, and case studies from top-performing markets.

Highlights from Tallinn

Apart from the formal agenda, the Tallinn meeting offered opportunities for meaningful networking. Professionals from across Europe exchanged insights on:

  • Controlled blasting in urban environments

  • Digital platforms for blast simulation

  • Innovations in vibration and dust control

  • Regulatory challenges faced in emerging markets

Tallinn itself, with its blend of medieval charm and modern infrastructure, served as a fitting backdrop for this forward-looking gathering.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next?

As we return from Tallinn, we bring with us renewed momentum to apply what we learned and to:

  • Enhance our internal training programs

  • Contribute further to EFEE’s future conferences and working groups

  • Advocate for smart regulation and responsible use of explosives in civil engineering

In 2026, EFEE plans to hold its next Annual General Meeting in Spring, and ELTEK will be there—continuing our mission to lead with responsibility and integrity.

Conclusion

Our presence at the EFEE Council Meeting 2025 was another step in our journey to excellence. It reflects our deep-rooted belief that progress in engineering comes through cooperation, constant learning, and proactive adaptation to change.

We thank EFEE for the opportunity and extend our appreciation to all delegates and partners who contribute daily to the growth of this essential industry.

Stay tuned for more updates from the field. Together, we build a safer, smarter future.
